Also included is an awesome covered bar area in back with a fish cleaning station and a big flat screen up on the wall! Have you ever been able to watch TV and clean your fish? Saltgrass Lodge - Venice Louisiana

Next on the list is The Saltgrass Lodge.  Now, talk about nice. This place will leave you speechless!  This is the best of the best. You can’t find a better place to stay on most of your vacations, must less Venice, LA!

You have my word that you will be satisfied. Saltgrass is one of the ONLY lodges in Venice with a swimming pool.  This is  a beautiful 4 story home.

The home sits on a huge private lot and overlooks the Mississippi River. You can relax  on one of the many outside decks and watch the cargo and cruise ships go by. Your wife will love you for staying  here. I did mention the pool right? Saltgrass also offers full meals while you are in Venice. Your drinks are  also included (alcohol). Saltgrass will see to it that your stay in Venice will be as awesome as the fishing.

Nearly seven-thousand square feet of elegance and delicacy, the Saltgrass Lodge in Venice, Louisiana is a beautiful antebellum-style home overlooking the Mississippi River. The home is located an hour south of New Orleans on the slender peninsula that forms the tip of the Louisiana boot and the mouth of the Mississippi river. A single highway hugs the western side of the river deep into the thick Louisiana marshland to the river's end, the Mississippi river delta.

The home is a proud monument standing tall despite mother nature's wrath. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina poured over the levee protection in south Louisiana. Flood waters rose to an astounding twenty-two feet in the interior of the then private residence that would become Saltgrass Outdoors first property. The flooding did not damage the resilient framework and in 2007 the structure was purchased by Saltgrass Outdoors and marked for a complete renovation. The post Katrina remodel was carefully crafted. Restoring and preserving southern Louisiana charm was paramount. The Lodge achieves a special type of nostalgic luxury with special consideration to classic Louisiana plantation architecture.

The lodge is now a quaint escape in the heart of bayou country Louisiana. Inviting rocking chairs on the wrap around porches keep watch over cargo and cruise ships navigating the currents of the Mississippi River. A cabana-lined pool deck, Jacuzzi bath, and gourmet meal complete the daily itinerary for visiting sportsmen and familes.

Saltgrass Lodge consists of four levels. The ground level is a covered open-air entertaining area that allows large groups a reprieve from the hot summer sun or inclement weather.

Come dine on the Second Level where you'll find the kitchen, dining and living rooms, as well as the Cypress Room- a cypress wood-lined room fit for card games . The level is also surrounded by a wraparound porch with French door entry and exit from all rooms. To the rear, an extended deck features an outdoor kitchen along with seating for dining or lounging. The Third and Fourth Levels are rooms and suites.

Living Room
The living room features an exposed beam ceiling with cedar and brick paver accent walls. Thick grain  leather furniture and plasma screen television make for comfortable lounging. The living area also houses  the Saltgrass Outfitter corner that offers outdoors gear and supplies.

Cypress Room
The Cypress room houses a well stocked bar and small wine cellar. The walls are comprised of true
rough cut cypress from the bayous and swamps of Louisiana. A game table and antique seating is set  up and provides a terriffic setting for poker and other card games.

Kitchen
Saltgrass Kitchen is a free flow design area that allows patrons to observe and question chefs about
dishes being prepared. Commercial appliances, a solid teak bar and cushioned seating area provide  comfortable viewing of entree preparation.

Dining Room
The dining room is set prior to each meal being served. The room is graced by an eight setting dining table,  antique buffet and let by an oversized chandelier.

The Oyster Deck
Our kitchen and living room open up to a 600 square foot deck. The deck overlooks the Mississippi River and  is a great spot to grill steaks, open oysters, or just rock in your chair, enjoy a cold beverage and watch the ships cruise along the river.

The Pool and Cabanas
Saltgrass wants you to relax after a long day of fishing, golf or hunting in our private cabanas around the pool.  Complete with a bar and grill that can make for the perfect outdoor dining experience. It can also be a place  for kids to have fun and play for during those family outdoor outings.

Meals
Saltgrass has an engaging affair with cuisine.  Meticulously selected dishes born of Creole Cajun descent and  sportsman creation are served.  Each is as an exciting experience to see prepared as it is to consume.   All meals are included for guests of the Lodge and are accompanied by a well stocked bar and wine list in the  Cypress Room. Activity lunches and drinks are prepared for the next day's itinerary and are selected from our menu.  Also, at your request, Saltgrass is proud to offer seafood boils where you can watch the entire process  of cooking shrimp, crab, or crawfish. With prior notification the Lodge happily offers an oyster bar where fresh  oysters are shucked and offered raw or the chef may prepare an assorted platter of different recipes.
