I am Captain Josh Howard. At the age of 26, I have a lot to be thankful for. I get to live a life that most people only dream of. I operate an offshore charter boat out of Venice, Louisiana. I know that I am not the oldest and most experienced captain on the water, but I can promise you that no other captain loves it more than I do! I understand that the love for the sport does not help you catch fish, so I will let the pictures speak for my ability to locate and land trophies!

As a child, my father and uncle would allow me to tag along on fishing trips. When other kids were playing games, I was fishing. It’s a passion that I will always have. I have not always fished offshore though. Starting out, I fished mostly fresh water and bays. The love for offshore began about two hours into my first offshore excursion. Never before had I seen anything so beautiful! I will never forget how blue the water was. That first offshore trip was over ten years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday. I knew then that I had to be on the water and I have been!

I get great pleasure out of watching my customers catch the fish of a lifetime. Lucky for the captains in Venice, we have a wide variety of fish that we are able to target. My favorite fish would have to be the Yellowfin Tuna! In my opinion, pound for pound, this fish fights harder than any other fish in the gulf. In the winter months these fish stack up so thick at the Midnight Lump, some days you cant help but catch one. This is an offshore fishermans dream come true!

For some people, they have never experienced anything like an offshore fishing trip. Most will replay these memories and stories forever. This is why we do what it takes to make every trip special!

I grew up in the St Francisville area of Louisiana. This is a mostly rural area where I spent most afternoons hunting, fishing or riding horses.

My family moved to Denham Springs when I was about 14. Here I was able to pursue my music career! Like my father, I have an ear for music. I started playing the drums at the age of ten. By fifteen, I was playing in professional bands. Music was my first love. I have played for a few of South Louisiana’s top bands where I was able to perform at opening shows for major national acts and play for most of Louisiana’s festivals and Mardi Gras Ball’s!

At the age of 23 I started two company’s that I still own today. One of them is Kajun Trim Works! We install interior molding in new homes. This has been a great experience for me. I was able to see how a business grows and I have made a good living doing this!  The other company is, of course, Deep South Charters, Inc! This company I am most proud of. This is the kind of company that most dream of but never do what it takes to make it happen! I guess you have to love it enough!  I do!
